Interview Preparation
Many Grammar schools require your child to perform well at an interview before places are offered. First impressions are critical, and a great one may result in your child standing out from the competition. In instances where 11-plus entrants have similar marks, interviews may be used to determine if your child should be offered a place or not. If it comes down to this, it is essential that your child knows how to act and what to expect in an interview so that they demonstrate to the school that they deserve a place.
However, it is important to note that some Grammar schools will require a mandatory interview to secure either a scholarship or a place.
Benefits of Interview Preparation
11-Plus Private School offer an Interview Preparation course, which allows your child to prepare correctly for any potential interview. This course teaches how to:
- Develop the skill and confidence to best demonstrate their personality
- Demonstrate their accomplishments and achievements
- Properly communicate and present themselves
- Answer and respond to questions posed by the interviewee
- Have an understanding of the school’s history and prestige, as well as current affairs related to the school
During the course, each child is tested in a mock interview. Much like the mock exams, these will be held in a similar environment. These interviews allow your child to gain a feel of what to expect.
Upon completion of this course, you will be provided with a report within 48 hours. The report will identify strengths and any areas of weakness to improve.
Even if your child is not selected for an interview, this course may be of use as it would likely be your child’s first experience of a formal interview. It could place them in good stead for any interviews they may be called for in the future, such as for university or a job.
